SCC is now recruiting additional volunteer members for its board of directors and presiding committees. Our goal is to maintain a community-based, working board and committee structure.
Preference will be given to candidates who live or work within our service area and catchments and possess knowledge in diversity and equity standards with an understanding of settlement and immigration issues. Experience or a strong background in the non-profit sector, financial management, accounting, marketing, web/graphics design, legal or experience in grass-roots advocacy would be greatly encouraged.
The Silayan Community Centre [est. 1969] in Toronto currently offers new immigrant support in areas of settlement, employment and housing; referral, counselling and legal services for families; skills training, and personal development classes; educational/advocacy workshops; heritage, language & cultural appreciation classes and events; drop-in programs for children/youth, seniors, single-parents, LGBT persons, domestic workers and other social groups from the Filipino-Canadian community. As the community grows more diverse, SCC will always strive to meet the ever-changing needs of its immediate population and those of its newer clientele from various backgrounds.
We are a non-political, non-profit, volunteer-based service agency primarily serving the needs of the Toronto-Rosedale area citizens and surrounding area
